The source material remains the same for both map types, only the coloring scheme is different.

The maximum spatial resolution is 14.25 m per pixel. Most data are from the period 1997-2003.
License
NASA has made the orthorectified Landsat scenes freely available to the public, but holds the copyright together with USGS. There is no restriction on the use of Landsat GeoCover imagery for research, educational or commercial purposes.
Credits
Users are asked to credit the sources that developed the dataset, including NASA, EarthSat and GLCF. A suggested way would be: Credits: NASA, EarthSat and GLCF.
Coverage
The GeoCover dataset covers most of the globe except Antarctica.
