Introduction
windPRO contains a database of existing tower locations derived from the Open Street Map project.
In windPRO, OSM Towers are available through two datasets, each holding different subsets of landscape elements:
- OSM Towers (antennas, masts, tall chimneys)
- OSM Power Towers (Electrical transmission towers)
Towers from OSM are particularly useful as reference points for the calibration of a PHOTOMONTAGE. As tall elements in the landscape, they are indeed very often visible on photos.
Usage Notes
- The towers are imported in windPRO as Control Point objects, defined at the ground level.
- Each tower is imported within a user defined radius around the position of the site center.
- When available, meta data such as the height or the type of tower is included in the description of the object.
